Should reservation be extended to private sector jobs in India?

National

India's reservation system for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) has been implemented in government jobs and public educational institutions, though over 90% of employment in India is now in the private sector where reservations do not currently apply. Advocates argue that marginalized sections continue to face social discrimination and exclusion in private employment, while sources differ on whether extending reservations to private companies would have adverse economic effects on domestic and foreign investment.
